From Our Vineyard to Your Table: The Wine Lovers’ Holiday House on Pelješac

In a feature published by Dubrovniknet, the story of Križ Winery founders Marijeta Čalić and Denis Bogojević Marušić goes beyond wine — into their restored five-century-old stone home in Prizdrina on Pelješac.

Alongside their certified organic and biodynamic viticulture, the couple transformed their ancestral house into the Wine Lovers’ Holiday House — a space that reflects their philosophy of sustainability, authenticity, and deep respect for heritage. The restoration, which began after Denis returned from Split in 2004, revealed historical architectural layers and even 17th-century Venetian coins embedded in the stone walls.

True to their values, the house has no pool or jacuzzi. Instead, guests are welcomed into a garden of herbs and vegetables, invited to experience rural life, and to taste natural wines at their source. The house attracts travelers who appreciate simplicity, terroir-driven wines, and genuine hospitality.

As Marijeta and Denis emphasize, they do not choose their guests — guests choose them.
